unbloom
Plaster casting, 2025 Installation view of group show Tower, Augustenstraße 33a, Münich What unsettles me about cauliflower is its frightening fractal structure of self-similarity. This structure results from a genetic absence that prevents the apical tissue from ever becoming a flower. Instead, the cauliflower endlessly accumulates buds—an organism that continuously fails to bloom. I overlay this natural obsession of endlessly reproducing itself, born from frustration, with the process of mould making, in which identical forms can be reproduced infinitely from a single model.
